Ujala Janjua

Ujala Janjua is 22 year’s old and has stepped into the world of pageantry for the very first time! She has grown up in Windsor and recently achieved a significant milestone by completing her undergraduate degree in Human Kinetics. She continues to prepare for the next chapter of her academic journey, studying diligently for the MCAT and aspiring to attend medical school while reflecting on the passion that propels her forward. A passion for healing, for understanding, and for making a difference in the lives of others.During her time at university working as a research assistant at the Centre for Human Performance & Health, Ujala worked alongside remarkable individuals, from varsity athletes to members of the community, striving to enhance their understanding of health and wellness.

Volunteering at the pediatric ward of Windsor Regional Hospital for over 4 years has been a cornerstone of her journey, allowing her to offer comfort and support to children and their families during some of their most challenging moments. Their resilience in the face of adversity has been a source of profound inspiration for her, reminding her of the strength that lies within each of us. Ujala’s involvement with Exercise is Medicine Canada at the University of Windsor has further deepened her commitment to promoting wellness within our community. Through engagement initiatives, Ujala has had the privilege of empowering others to prioritize their health and embrace the transformative power of exercise.

Yet, perhaps the most transformative experience of all has been navigating through her own journey of battling chronic illness over the past four years. Amidst the pain and uncertainty, Ujala has discovered an unwavering determination to not only survive but to thrive – to become the beacon of hope and resilience that she had longed for during her darkest moments. She is fueled by a profound sense of purpose, to be the role model that she has always needed in her life, to inspire the youth in our community to persevere in the face of adversity and illness, and to advocate for those whose voices often go unheard.

She hopes to be able to utilize the Miss Windsor platform to amplify the voices of the marginalized, to champion the cause of healthcare accessibility, and to stand in solidarity with those who are fighting battles far greater than our own. Her passion for advocacy and support leads her to aspire to work alongside organizations like Doctors Without Borders. Who are tireless in their efforts to deliver critical medical care to those displaced and suffering worldwide. War, persecution, conflict, and natural disasters often strip individuals of their homes and access to basic healthcare, leaving them vulnerable and in need. Ujala is driven by a deep-seated desire to extend a helping hand to those whose lives have been upended, aiming to be a beacon of hope, and guiding them towards resilience. With unwavering commitment, Ujala embraces this journey, guided by the belief that together, we can inspire hope, cultivate resilience, and build a brighter future for all.
